A fire blanket is the fastest way to smother flames on a person or small equipment fire, and Junkin has made them for decades. The JSA-1002 is a 70 percent wool, 30 percent synthetic blend that is machine washable, so it can be used for training and returned to service. It stores in the JSA-1003-B vinyl-coated nylon carrying bag, or in the JSA-1006 rust-proof kit, a bright red PVC canister with mounting brackets that ejects the blanket from the bottom for immediate use.

The JSA-1010 wrap-around fire blanket kit combines a wool-blend blanket with a 20-gauge steel wall cabinet finished in red enamel with white lettering. The blanket is arranged so a person can push either arm through a rope loop and, by turning, wrap themselves completely, which makes the kit suitable for laboratories, kitchens, welding areas, and industrial plants. Kits should be wall mounted six to eight inches from the floor, and a viewing hole confirms the blanket is in place. Compliant models for MIL-B-52309B requirements are available.
